We wanted to share some pictures of the Rip-it factory with backers and others. As of January 2025, we still haven't been able to ship finished product because we are waiting on a key component for the fence assembly. But these images show how we are set up to do so once the part arrives, and how we've completed other work in the meantime.
External view of the factory in Green District, Roseburg, OR. The right side of the building is our 2,500 sq-ft space.
This station is for drilling, tapping, and finishing metal parts. The rail, rack, and fence components are extruded aluminum and arrive to us already anodized and machined. We do the additional operations here. This also shows where we finish, bag, and wrap the rail and rack assemblies.
Rails and racks are packaged together in these long skinny boxes. These are palates of them ready to ship (once the fences are done and ready to ship with them). At the time of this writing, we have enough ready to fulfill all backer pre-orders.
We built the tables, shelves, and machine setups for the factory at this woodworking station. Soon we will convert this area into a demo space for Rip-it. In the foreground is a working 1947 Delta Unisaw that is being retrofitted for demos.
Rip-it ships in two boxes, one for the fence and one for the rail/rack, and we had custom boxes created for both. We also had this metal rack made so we can safely and efficiently move fences between the stations for machining, assembly, and packaging operations.
Three tables are set up in a row for assembling, testing, and packaging the fences. The first two (only one of which is partly visible in the image, on the right side) are for the assembly operations. The one shown here is for final testing and packaging.
Once they are done, the fences will sit nicely in their custom boxes. The unit shown here is a "dummy" that was created just for confirming the box dimensions. We have most of the bill-of-materials for the complete system already in hand, as of today, and are hoping to get the last parts delivered soon.
